There Are Five Types of Plagiarism:
1. Plagiarism of WORDS
-Using another's exact words as your own
-Copying and Pasting
-Not giving any credit to the actual author
2. Plagiarism of AUTHORSHIP
-Using a ghost writer (hiring someone to write for you)
-Turning in a friend's work as your own
-Turning in a paper purchased on the internet
3. Plagiarism of STRUCTURE
-Paraphrasing using a thesaurus to change words with changing the entire
sentence
What is Paraphrasing??
-Restating text by changing the words while keeping the meaning.
**Paraphrasing still needs to be CITED!
4. Plagiarism of IDEAS
-Presenting another's ideas as your own, even if written in your own words
-Incorrectly citing another's ideas
5. Plagiarism of SELF
-Turning in a paper that you've written/submitted for another class
