Boolean Search Terms:
-"Quotation Marks" to search exact phrase
- + or "" to search common words that maybe ignored by the search engine
- - to exclude words
-OR will search one term or another to broaden a search
-AND will connect search terms to narrow a search
-AND NOT will exclude terms
-NEAR requires the term following to occur within a certain number of characters
-(Parentheses) for nesting or requiring certain terms to be searched first
Searching Specific Types of Websites or Documents:
- add +.doc after a term for documents
- add +.pdf after a term for a pdf
- add +.ppt after a term for a PowerPoint presentation
- add +.swf after a term for an Adobe Flash animation
- add +.gov after a term for government sites
- add +.edu after a term for educational sites
- add. +.org or +.com after a term to narrow search
